Wines Defined by Nature

Wine is life, part of nature and this is the vision that guides us in the vineyard and winery as we craft the wines of Troon Vineyard. The Applegate Valley is defined by a commitment to sustainable agriculture as is Troon Vineyard. We believe that being a good steward to the land is not only a responsibility, but an essential step in making truly great wines. Our estate vineyards are L.I.V.E. and Salmon Safe Certified.

In the cellar we also let nature take its course. Our hand-harvested grapes are handled delicately. We trod our fruit by foot to handle our fruit in least aggressive way possible. Our goal with each lot is to ferment with the natural yeasts so abundant in our vineyards and to let malolactic fermentation also take its natural course. No commercial acids are added to our wines. Use of new oak barrels and sulfur is also minimized.

Our goal is simple. We want the character of our vineyards and the Applegate Valley to define our wines, not winemaking tricks or additives. At Troon you'll find wine from varieties selected by our vineyards, not market research. We feature wines produced from exciting varieties like vermentino, marsanne, roussanne, tempranillo, sangiovese, syrah, tannat, malbec and, of course, our heritage zinfandel first planted in 1972. Just like us, these varieties love living in the Applegate Valley.
